The moisture barrier helps the building in many ways. Installing them is not that hard, however, if your ladder does not have some sort of plastic tip to adhere to it, it can become very dangerous. The stuff is very slippery and the manufacturer recommends the use of scaffolding. Over lap the sheeting where the lines are drawn and staple to the wall. |
Back on the limb again this time cutting the branch that was broken by last year's ice storm. Unattended this branch would have fallen on the front roof of the shop. |
The sidings are 4x8 sheets that have a look of rough 8" planks. We decided to paint the sidings before installation and it worked out very well. Peggy, using a rope from in between the rafters, pulled the sheets up while I secured them to the wall using screws. |
For the window openings we lifted the sheet up and put it in position and temporary secured it with few screws around the window opening. We then cut the opening on the siding, lowered it down, installed the window and then reinstalled the siding over the window. We finally got electricity. |
We plan on using the cedar shake siding on both levels on front of shop. As well, the green room that will be attached to right corner on the south side of the building, will have the shake siding on it. |
Peggy found this cute cedar shake-look siding in a local lumber store. It was discontinued and very inexpensive. We just had to buy enough for our project to be finished. The siding is 16' long and about 10" wide and it installed very nice. |
The log house needing a make over, will also have the same cedar siding installed. |
